Journal History

The Jurnal Manajemen Keuangan Publik (JMKP), or Public Financial Management Journal, was founded in 2017 by the Polytechnic of State Finance STAN (PKN STAN) in response to an urgent need for a scientific platform focused on issues of state financial management. The journal's establishment is inspired by the broader context of the "State Financial Management Reform" and "Institutional Transformation" initiated by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Since the commencement of that reforms, significant changes have occurred in various aspects of state financial management, demanding in-depth and relevant academic studies to support better practices and evidence-based policies.

As a higher education institution under the Ministry of Finance specializing in state finance, PKN STAN recognized the necessity for a medium to accommodate and disseminate the thoughts, research findings, and critical analyses of academics, practitioners, and researchers. The journal is intended to bridge the gap between theory and practice, and to serve as a primary reference in the development of public financial management science and practice in Indonesia. The inaugural edition of JMKP, published in 2017, carried the theme "Becoming a Superior State Financial Manager," which directly reflects the ideals and spirit underlying its foundation.

JMKP consistently provides open access to its articles, which cover a range of topics such as budgeting, public expenditure management, fiscal policy, government accounting, and taxation. In doing so, the journal not only contributes to the body of scientific knowledge but also supports transparency and accountability in state financial management. The presence of JMKP is expected to encourage innovations in public financial management and enhance the quality of human resources in this sector, in line with the goals of the ongoing reforms.
